The Aquila (Eagle) was an important symbol in ancient Rome. Often times, Roman legionaries would carry standards with an Eagle on top. This standard is known as The Aquila. Each legion carried one Aquila, and the Aquila was considered one of the most important standards carried by Roman legions .
